No More Goonin'!
Well MX class went great this past weekend! We worked on lots of stuff from basics like body position, breaking zones, turns, ruts, you name it we did it. Boy it's amazing how sloppy and lazy I've gotten, and still been fast. How I don't know!
All in all it was an eye opener to just get back to the basics, not to mention have someone else besides my Dad telling me the same things... over and over and over! LOL! But he was always right. I just didn't listen as usual.
Well we'll be heading up to Atmore at least one day this weekend and maybe LAMX, too. Gonna keep practicing those drills and put them to work on every lap I do. NO MORE GOON RIDING!
Will try to get Dad to take some new pics and vids for y'all to laugh at. See ya next week. Be safe!
Josh
When I wake up race day morning,And I step out of my hauler,I know today won't be boring,'Cause I'm feeling ten feet taller,
The smell of a reving two stroke,The race fuel filling the air,I know this ain't no joke,When I'm here I just don't care,
The World could come to a stop,Time could just stand still,For today I come out on top,Now I'll showcase all of my skill,
Leaving the gate under power,Front wheel rising in the air,From the danger I won't cower,I'm giving it all that I dare,
Diving into that first turn,I forget about everything,As I peg the tire to the berm,Throttle twisted and engine singing,
So if you get the holeshot,Just be sure you are aware,I'm gonna give it all I've got,And blow by you like you're not there,
When the day is finally done,And the bikes are put away,Light fading with the setting sun,I wish tomorrow was a race day...
So I can kick your ass again!
My Grandpa got me a PW80 when I was 8 and I started riding at a local track called Dirt Trackin Mobile.
In the Fall of 2007 I started to compete in championship series for real. Even though I broke my wrist in September at LAMX I pushed myself to finish 3rd overall in the MS State Triple X Series in the 85cc Beginner class. I also managed to finish 3rd overall in the 2007/2008 MS State Arenacross Series in the Jr Mini class. My most proudest is finishing 2nd in the 2007/2008 Big Chill North/South Shootout in the 85cc 9-11 class.
I plan on running just one series, I haven't decided which yet. On my off weekends I intend to do more extensive training and concentrate on my skills and less on racing.
Sweeping all three of my classes in the Mississippi Triple X Series and getting 1st place in the 85cc 9-11 in the Gulf Coast Championship Series were all very cool. My biggest accomplishment of all though would be finishing 3rd in the GCCS in the 85cc Open class because there were so many great riders I competed against.
